SURROUNDINGS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TOO, AS MUCH AS THE QUALITY OF YOUR ACCOMODATION.
   Our cottages are located in the mountainous part of Ardeche in the south of France. Local weather is usually warm and sunny from late spring to late fall. Being at the altitude of 800 m, nights in the summer are cool and it's often a nice break from the day's heat. This part of Ardeche is not overcrowded and the environment is natural and very well preserved.

IN A SMALL VALLEY, WHERE THE LANE ENDS ...

  The dead end, paved lane, stops right at the cottages, from there you can reach by foot the river running down the small valley below. It's a very nice walk to the Escoutay river.

 
On the slopes of the volcano...
The hill behind the cottages, is in fact an old volcano ( Estrat ) today totally inactive. The lake of Saint Martial is in the crater of the volcano. Many paths, on the hill, will lead you to the village and its lake. It's about a twenty minutes walk. From there you will have a nice view to the manor and the beautifull chestnut trees nearby the cottages.

  A big linden tree shades the swings, the sand box and the benches where you may sit to watch your kids playing.

 This area is very much appreciated by kids and adults as well, it's a place to meet, talk and play.

You may park your car on the private parking just before the cottages, leaving your car there will keep the hamlet quiet and safe.

CLOSE TO THE VILLAGE AND IN A PLEASANT NATURAL SETTING :

 Shops in the village are open every days in the summer ( bakery, grocery, meat and sausage shop, and of course, the bar )... On sunday mornings, more street merchants sell fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and natural products.



  From the road to the village, It's a beautifull panoramic view of the village in balcony above the lake. You will enjoy swimming and playing in the lake's spring water. It's so close to our cottages that you may easily walk there from your accomodation.
